In order to strengthen its presence in performance motorcycle segment, Bajaj Auto is gearing up to launch premium bikes under the Husqvarna brand. Bajaj caught everyone off-guard by launching KTM bikes in India back in 2013. Considering its market knowledge, and timely launches, Husqvarna suppose to have a greater impact on the Indian market.

Its no doubt that Husqvarna bikes too will be manufactured in Bajaj’s Chakan Plantnear Pune. A range of bikes including all Pulsar series and KTM bikes are manufactured here.

Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 motorcycles were spotted testing in and around Pune. These retro cum modern bikes have exposed black trellis frame and the design is minimal thus making the bike lighter overall. Both these bikes feature LED lights all around, sleek minimal design, full digital meter, lighter weight, a dual-channel ABS, dual-purpose tyres and much more.

Vitpilen 401 has a sports cafe racer design with lower set handlebars. Vitpilen is meant for outright performance and nothing else. Svartpilen 401 sports more of a scrambler like design language with a more comfortable upright sitting position. Both Husqvarna bikes will use KTM‘s 373 cc liquid cooled, single cylinder engine. The high revving powerplant is good for 44 bhp @9000 rpm and 37 Nm twisting force at @7500 rpm. While all other cycle parts will be shared with KTM bikes, the design will remain true to Husqvarna’s legacy.

Huskies are priced more than KTM bikes in all the markets. It is safe to assume that Bajaj will price these motorcycles at a premium over the KTM bikes. Expected starting price could be anywhere between Rs 2.6 to 2.8 Lakh ex-showroom.

Bajaj is working on an electric scooter, will launch in 2020

Recently Bajaj has confirmed that they are planning to launch an electric scooter in India. According to the company upcoming electric vehicles will be India’s answer to Tesla‘s electric cars. Rajiv Bajaj has announced that he is working on the idea to make Bajaj equivalent to Tesla in two-wheeler industry.

Bajaj has announced itself as “The World’s Favourite Indian.” And at a recent event in New Delhi, which was attended by Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog and Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, the company also said that there is work in the pipeline for an electric scooter.

At least 100 km range is necessary per charge for an EV

Back in 2017, the company revealed that they are working on a new brand within the company called Urbanite. The Urbanite brand will focus on electric vehicles. Bajaj is not the first Indian company to show interest in electric vehicle space, however, most electric scooters on sale in the country are performing poorly in terms of sales. The new entrants in the Electric vehicle space like AtherTwenty-Two motors and others still have a long way to go towards establishing their brand.

From upcoming Urbanite electric scooter, we can expect a range of 100 Km from a single charge. We expect a top speed of 60-65 kmph which will work fine for an electric scooter. We would love to see a full digital display providing essential information to the rider. Exact battery level and leftover range will help riders to not to get stranded due to complete discharge.

If Pulsar maker launches an electric scooter, they also have to set up robust fast-charging stations in most metro cities. Launching a top of the line premium electric scooter will certainly not help. The reason can be seen in the price of Ather scooters.

As there was no official statement made towards the development of Urbanite electric scooter, we can only make out that Bajaj electric scooter will be launched only next year. Expected price of Bajaj’s electric scooter is around Rs 90,000 ex-showroom.

First, let’s talk about the 390 Adventure Indian test bike. The bike is riding on alloy wheels. This bike might be the cheapest variant with a lower seat height. The tyres are also not hard-core off-roading on. They are kind of dual-purpose tyres.

KTM 390 Adventure was also spied in Europe. The bike was not camouflaged and was completely blacked out. Here you can clearly see the design language of adventure motorcycle. Electric mobility is the future. And the future will start from two wheels

India is moving towards a sustainable future. And for the country to achieve its goals, it has to rely on its resources and must don’t depend on other counties for support. India imports around 70% of its oil needs by importing from Middle-East Countries. Due to this a lot of money outflows to fill our oil needs. Electric vehicles are the future which will lead to lower oil imports, cleaner environment, and cheap running cost. Here is our list of upcoming electric bikes and scooters in India in 2019

Upcoming Bikes in India in 2019 – Part I

upcoming bikes motorcycle diaries

Dominar 400 and Xpulse are among the list of upcoming bikes in India in 2019

2018 was an impressive year when it came to the motorcycle launches in India. From Royal Enfield to Jawa there have been quite a few breathtaking motorcycles launches in 2018. Coming to 2019 there are still gaps where a motorcycle can fit and cater to particular set of riders. To put it differently, Suzuki has nothing to counter FZ-25. And most importantly, TVS doesn’t have a cruiser in their stable, considering the demand for affordable cruisers. Read below our list of upcoming bikes in India in 2019.

Bajaj Dominar 2019

Upcoming bikes motorcycle diaries

When Bajaj Dominar was launched back in 2016, it was considered as one of the most bang for the buck motorcycle. Christened as a power cruiser, it was first of its kind launched by an Indian manufacturer. Though the sales target of Dominar was set at 10,000 units per month but Bajaj never achieved the said target.

In our upcoming bikes in India list, we have Bajaj Dominar. As you know that there has been various spy shots of 2019 Bajaj Dominar near Pune. Bajaj is gearing up for the launch of updated Dominar 400. This time Dominar will be better equipped with more features like, instantaneous fuel efficiency readoutDistance to Empty etc. The bike may also get a larger fuel tank for greater touring range and a little bump in power for better performance.

Honda CB300R

upcoming bikes motorcycle diaries

Honda has launched the CB300R in European countries with no sign of it in India. With competition bringing new naked bikes in 200 to 300 cc segment, Honda is clearly lagging behind. To everyone’s disappointment, Honda just launched old CBR 250R with BS4 EngineLED headlight and few color options.

2020 KTM RC 390 spied testing

KTM RC 390

The updated KTM RC 390 will refresh its rivalry with Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha R3 and TVS Apache RR 310

If the current KTM RC 390 doesn’t appeal you, then the upcoming updated version will surely. Many hoped to see a Duke-like change but got disappointed. However, the Austrian bike manufacturer is readying a refreshed model that will certainly soothe your mind. Yes, the 2020 KTM RC 390 is being tested in Europe and the test mule has been already spied.

The current KTM Duke 390 came with a host of updates including new design, features, and technology as well. But, its faired sibling received only ride-by-wire throttle and a belly pan. Put that sad look aside and be happy. The 2020 KTM RC 390 will come with a completely revised design. It will feature an all-new LED headlamp, a full-colour TFT display, just like the outgoing KTM 390 Duke. There will be a clear visor ahead of the instrument cluster.

Triumph Speed Twin 2019 is a bold move

triumph speed twin motorcyclediaries

Triumph Speed Twin 2019 with ‘Thruxton’ tune is what was actually missing in the Bonneville family

speed twin motorcyclediaries

Triumph Speed Twin 2019 is a revelation like no other. It strikes the perfect balance between design, nippy performance and the legend of Bonnie. This one claims to be sharper and edgier than the softer Bonnies. But at the same time not too extreme as the Thruxton if you know what I mean. Triumph Speed Twin 2019 looks absolutely stunning down to its tiniest detail. Yes, I know, so does the Bobber and Speedmaster, but this is more sublime.

Triumph Speed Twin 2019; Design

speed twin motorcyclediaries

Just look at it! Menacing yet classy at the same time. That glorious engine still sits as the centrepiece. But it looks compact too, unlike its bulkier brothers. And Speed Twin will bring in a host of customisation trinkets to makes yours look super unique. The finish on parts is excellent and you’ll get 80+ more to play with as accessories.

Triumph Speed Twin 2019; Performance

speed twin motoryclediaries

Obviously, you cannot ever question the performance of a Triumph. But if you remember the Street Twin left room to be desired. Triumph Speed Twin 2019, however, has a 1200 twin which will push out 95 horses backed by 112 torques. This is what the Thruxton generates, hence sportier output. And is 2.5kg lighter than it as well?

Triumph Speed Twin 2019; Electronics

speed twin 2019 motorcyclediaries

What good is power without thorough control, right? Triumph Speed Twin 2019 has a ride-by-wire throttle with selectable riding modes for a response. A Traction control system keeps everything sane while hard cornering. Clutch lever is light making it easier while negotiating traffic. Those twin clocks are a design feature which happens to deliver crisp details as well. I mean there is a host of telltales gear, throttle mode, distance to empty, TPMS if equipped and a lot more. But all of that in a twin pod classic setup just looks brilliant, and no I’m absolutely no fan of TFTs on motorcycles. Sorry, needles just look right.

Triumph Speed Twin 2019; Customisation

triumph speed twin motorcyclediaries

Okay, it already is a thing of beauty, but Triumph will offer you a ton of goodies to create your own individual Triumph Speed Twin 2019. The sculpted tank and twin silencers are nostalgic, yes, but quilted seats to go with that tank and end pipes as Vance & Hines are a more personal approach. And not just design, there are disc locks and luggage options which provide more functionality.

I am definitely falling for the Triumph Speed Twin 2019. The Bobber is too much attention, the Speedmaster is too old for my taste and the Street is too less. Triumph Speed Twin is the perfect Twin there can be. A magnificent British twin that looks menacing and ultra-classy at the same time, Christmas is here!

Upcoming bikes in India 2019, hold those checks

Upcoming bikes in India 2019 are even more exciting than the current crop manufacturers just harvested

There has been a wave of nostalgia with new launches, but hold on as upcoming bikes in India 2019 are further future proof. Nothing can break the happiness of an enthusiast as well as a classic design rejuvenated for modern times. Beginning from Jawa making a come-back, to the super exciting 650 Twins from Royal Enfield down to the magical Kawasaki Z900RS. Each of them a design and engineering masterpiece bringing joy to motorcyclists across the globe. But hold on, there is another wave coming in 2019 which will focus more on modern and futuristic bikes. Classic are exceedingly cool to behold, but newer designs are functional, more efficient and sensible. Obviously, these are all speculative and might not see the market soon enough for you, but it is highly likely they might.

Hero Xpulse 200

Hero Motocorp has shown us this upcoming model for a while now, and they recently also displayed a 200T variation. With high hopes from the brand, we added this to our upcoming bikes in India 2019 list. A model follows up to the Impulse, this adventure motorcycle will be an efficient and affordable option for riders looking to do off road bits without breaking the bank. Adventure category hugely exciting, but all dedicated machines cost a lot of money. Even the Himalayan nears the Rs 2lakh circle on road. Since Hero is extremely smart with its pricing and low-cost spares, expect Xpulse 200 to share that Xtreme 200R mill, already the cheapest 200cc motorcycle.
